A differential transfers the torque produced by the engine to the wheels, letting the wheels run at different speeds so you keep traction as and when the situation demands.
There are a variety of differential centres for different applications, from a single spinner to a True Trac, E locker, Kaaz locker or ARB locker. Torque is passed from the engine to the differential through the transmission and tail shaft, so to keep your car running smooth and efficiently, quality periodic maintenance of the tail shaft, CV joints, universals and differential is a must.
